I am a medical graduate, specialised in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. My doctoral thesis Childhood Trauma and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder that was defended at the Uppsala University in Sweden mainly concerned children in Kurdistan after the Mass-Escape Tragedy of 1991, the Anfal of 1988, the orphans in Iraqi Kurdistan, and Kurdistanian children in Sweden. I am working as Senior Consultant and Director of Studies in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Uppsala University Hospital in Sweden, and Founding Director of the Department of Child Mental Health at the College of Medicine, University of Dohuk in Iraqi Kurdistan.
